AP: Liver Disease Plagues Overweight Kids

This story from the Associated Press is sobering. Docs are finding the need for children to have liver transplants is increasing, thanks to obesity. As a fat kid, I knew the mantra of the time that I would grow out of it, that I was just big-boned or my personal favorite, that I may be big but at least I was healthy, was a gigantic load of crap.

Too bad it's taken 20 years for medical professionals to put two and two together on that one.

Have you actually READ the research on this? When was the last time you took the time to dig further into an obviously alarmist story to verify the facts for yourself?

That would be a true challenge for someone like you, relating generic media reports that go unchallenged by the general public is easy...

Who needs to READ when you've LIVED it?

"Someone like me," as if you had any clue who I am.

The story is pretty straight-forward and the concept is quite simple to grasp: More overweight kids mean more children are showing the onset of a disease that used to be rare for that demographic. The earlier they get it, the longer they'll have it, the more likely they'll be to need extensive treatment at an earlier adult age. Simple statistics.

So what part don't you get, Anon? Perhaps if you'd reveal your name we could get in touch and help you figure it out.
